Ghost hunting is not a real recognised issue. There are no official schools and there are no official rules for it. The only strategy to follow is "What will you put into it?". Ghost hunting is accompanied bij study, after all you have to learn what types of phenomena to investigate, what types of experiments to conduct at a location, how to interview a witness, what tools to use and most important, to know what you're looking for. The most important tool is the ghost hunter self. It is his mind, his judgment and his powers of observation which are important in solving a case. Like I mentioned before, I have seen hundreds of fake photographs, not always made on purpose, but just by misjudging the situation. I will come back to this later in my ghost photography section. You will meet so called haunts which are easy to explain by the laws of physics. So you need also to study some physics, biology, electronics, optics, photography, chemistry, math, ...

You will see that these are all of great value in times when you're astounded by banging water pipes, creaking floorboards, electrical misfunctions, strange appearances etc. There is also a great deal of psychology involved with this all. The manipulation of the human mind by other individuals is in a lot of cases very big. You will discover that some people like to "pull your leg" out there. You will also discover some very strange or very scared people who have, for all sorts of reasons, come to misjuged believe that their house is haunted. It's important to stick by YOUR OWN judgment and not to be influenced by others. Eventually, you will find that genuine case.
